We ate here for the first time today and we're not disappointed. The shredded beef is delicious. The service was fast and on point. We will definitely be back. We had a group of 7 so we made sure to show up early which was a very good thing. It got very busy real fast and I can understand why.

Ok it was busy but took forever to get flatware. The bathroom did have paper towels. The food was great but service was lacking needs so work. I did notice that it looks like all new servers. Patience is the key word and if your not in a hurry than your ok. Worst experience but the food does make up for it.

Moreno's is a great local spot with good food and friendly staff. I've even gone for breakfast a time or two and was pleasantly surprised. Pricing is on the lower end which makes it even easier to go more often.

My family and I come here often. The place is always packed, wait time varies for a table. The food is good, never had any problems with service. But the thing that gets me is, the chips. I know it sounds stupid. But they charge you extra for another round of chips. And when you have a family of 4, hungry and waiting for the food that is ordered to come through. We are going to plow through that shallow basket of chips, like nobody's business. And I like having the chips with my rice and beans... Like most people. I don't think that a second helping on that shallow basket of chips is going to bankrupt this restaurant. Especially when our bill is usually between $50 -$65 (thats including the tip) I know your restaurant is making a killing especially on the weekends. We pay damn good money eating here. You need to stop being so cheap... Because we aren't!...Just saying. The 2 stars is little dramatic but I am hoping the restaurant see's this and other responses, in hopes that they stop being so cheap.

Breakfast and lunch both yummy choices. Choice of salsas and bean dip along with crispy chips. Salsa Verde really good! Will be sure to make this a regular hangout!

I've read good things about Morenos, so we decided to give it a try. Among walking in, I felt very squished!! the seating is so tight, and we were all in the way of the servers bringing out food. The chips and salsa are great flavored, but extremely watered down!! it was basically like dipping a chip in flavored water....no scooping salsa deliciousness up:( I ordered a mango margarita, but I quickly realized that was a mistake! It tasted like it came from a pre-made bottled mix. Yuck!! Our food was great though. I got a burrito with green chiles, shredded beef, and some other yummy fillings - wonderful!! and my husband and kids got the mango/shrimp quesadilla, and the nachos. I love how they have a menu of exciting flavor combos!!

Great food. Love the carne asada tacos and chips and bean dip. Affordable prices too!!

Stopped in for a late lunch today and everything was pretty spot on. I tend to give most Mexican restaurants three stars because they're pretty much all the same and pretty average. What I do look for is great service, great chips and salsa, and great chicken tortilla soup. Today, all of those were met. Our server was on top of it -- very helpful and friendly. The red salsa was just ok, but the green salsa and bean dip were delicious and the chips were light, crispy, and warm. I ordered two street tacos that were pretty plain with not much flavor, but I added some salsa and that did the trick. The chicken tortilla soup wasn't the best I've ever had but was pretty darn good. Overall, it was a pretty good lunch and I'm sure I'll be back soon!

Very disappointed In today's outing . I asked our server Jadyn what was in the veggie burrito, she really didn't know , her answer was 'all veggies ! 'I asked her if it was green peppers , onions , she said yes , I told her apparently what was in it, When it was delivered it was a bean and cheese , I didn't want that cause I already ordered beans and rice on side . I asked her again where is the veggies in my burrito , I had it cut it half, she looked at it,she said they should be there , looked at it again, said she would ask about the veggies, and added I odered you a veggie burrito ,at that point she walked away , nothing to help the situation, just walked away . Then came back and asked if I needed a Togo box ? I wasn't eating it .Not really sure what that customer service was , but she didn't have it today , my son even said she was acting like she was out of it , he's 15 and notice . She came back dropped off our check , still no sorry , I'll take it off your bill , can I get you a new one , nothing , charged me and she was done .again very disappointed with this place today , that's why a 1 star, my son did get what he wanted , that's the star.

Have eaten here numerous times.... One of my favorite places to eat lunch.... The chicken street tacos are delicious!!!

The Five Stars are for the entire experience, not just the food itself. Small and unassuming, this place makes very tasty food, serves it in large portions, the prices are dirt cheap, the servers are friendly... What else do you want? I've read a few reviews claiming that the food wasn't good. Maybe, but I've gone with friends and family ten or more times with zero complaints and a face full of smiles.

Just went to moreno's for a dinner date with my wife. We come here a few times a year when my wife is craving it. Every time we come here though there is always something wrong. Today they got my order wrong and I had to send it back and start my wait all over, then when I got my burrito it was at least 90% rice which is supposed to be in it based off of what the description is but definitely not what I was expecting. Will be avoiding the burritos here from now on whenever we decide to eat here if we ever come back.

    (2)
  • Lorrin C.

3=good. Food looked just like the pictures. Extensive menu at moderate prices. Place was crowded. Food was good. Four of us tried their Sonoran Dogs which were as good as any. My wife had some kind of seafood burro. There is a picture of it in the album. The other two gals split the mini chimis and something else. All were happy with their choices. If I go back up there again, Morenos is a definite consideration.

  • Vladmir T.

We love Morenos and have eaten at 3 of their locations and have been eating at their spots for 10 years. Good food for a good price! The owner and staff are all friendly!

  • Horizontal R.

I don't understand the rave reviews about this place. The salsa is the most disgusting salsa I've ever had. The food is subpar and overpriced for what they're offering. The only reason for 1 star is bc of the staff, they were nice but not nice enough that I would go back and waste my money.

    (1)
  • Meghan W.

I loved this place!! Took 3 kids here for lunch. They offer 3 different salsas with your chips. All are so yummy. I had a burrito covered in their White Spinach sauce and it was amazing!!!! A must try if you live in San Tan Valley.

  • teresa t.

Loved the burritos! Great service! Great workers! My boyfriend loved it, we moved from nor cal and are very picky with where we eat. We couldn't find any real Mexican food around queen creek and decided to try here & loved it! Some bomb burritos! :)

  • Mark H.

This is a nice quaint family style restaurant that seats about 50 people. Service was very good and the people were friendly and helpful. The portions were generous and tasty.

    (4)
  • Janessica H.

My family and I absolutely LOVE this place! Their food never fails us. Its always hot, fresh and full filling. Their portions always leave us in a coma! Lol! The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is because its always packed. Most times we have to wait 5-10 mins for a table. With the business they get, they really need to open a bigger spot. But other then that, they are the best Mexican food joint out here in STV, hands down:)

    (4)
  • Randall P.

With so much Mexican food around this place shouldn't be as busy as it is, overly Americanized, and the atmosphere leaves little to be desired, it's cramped and bright. Topped a crab stuffed entree with way too much processed cheese and ruined it and I'm not sure they're actually putting tequila in the margaritas. Go home and make tacos, don't trust this place to fix your Mexican dinner cravings.

    (1)
  • Sadie L.

The food here is great, but the service is hit or miss. Even when it's not busy, sometimes the servers are just not on their game. It's a small place, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get amazing service.

    (4)
  • A B.

Myrna I believe might be the head waitress, regardless she is very sweet and attentive. My hubby and I had really great food. This is twice this week actually. We will be going back for sure!

    (5)
  • Kevin W.

Great food every time we eat @ this place. The customers service is also great. This place is always busy but it worth the wait. The street taco are the bomb.

    (5)
  • Brandon S.

It was really busy and when we got there it was a bit confusing on how we get a table and was a very tiny place. But once we got the food it was delicious! We a good place to enjoy a family meal.

    (5)
  • Lisa H.

This place is delicious!! It was recommend to us and the flavors are wonderful. It's hard to pick just one thing....everything is so good. Must try!!!!

We ate here on Mother's Day, and it was so good! this is best Mexican food I've had since moving to AZ.

    (5)
  • Diego M.

Well, I can't believe this guy Sergio still works here, what a moron. It's like being served by a Mexican inmate gangster wanna be. Being served by him just stinks. Get rid of him already geee

  • Mike H.

Just had the Encha Burrito....I did take out tonite, wise decision because as usual it was busy. The Encha is a Green Chili Burrito served with rice, beans, chips & salsa. I'm a sucker for green chili anything so the decision was easy. Everything was tasty. Portions were solid, again, San Tan Valley is lucky to have a place like this. I have actually been here 2 other times since my first review but am finally catching up. So, skip Taco Hell and try Moreno's.

    (4)
  • Shannon G.

Best Mexican food in the area!! Only problem is the restaurants to small. The staff is friendly love the Moreno's burrito, shrimp tacos with the pineapple salsa, cheese enchiladas and the shredded beef tacos. We just try to get there early for dinner!!

    (5)
  • Jacki A.

Very Happy with the friendly atmosphere. Truly well priced and the food is excellent. This is one our family's favorite place.

    (5)
  • Michael B.

I had a carne asada burrito that was more fat and gristle than meat a couple weeks ago. I decided to give them another try this morning and get a breakfast burrito, and I couldn't even get served! The employees were having a non work related conversation (about some drama) and left me standing at the register. I'm done with them. I like to buy and shop local, but it looks like I will have to travel to get good Mexican food and service.

    (1)
  • Chelsea J.

Delicious!!! Whenever we want a good cheat meal.... Mexican food this is the place to go! Always gets our cravings spot on! And the service is always great! Not to mention the margaritas are tasty too!

    (5)
  • Angie S.

We've been going to this nice little restaurant for a little over a year now. The food has always been good/ great. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. The service is hit and miss. Sometimes great/ good and then other times not so great. But need less to say we will keep coming back. As far as these bad reviews the only thing I can say is there was two Mexican restaurants and that's including this place and now only one. Not including a fast food chain either. Basically one Mexican restaurant for close to 87,000 people in a town!! That's a lot of people.

    (4)
  • Jennelle E.

A family favorite! We really like most of the food and we have found the service to be good MOST the time. The price is great- and there is almost always a buy one get one 1/2 off coupon somewhere which makes for a cheap meal out. The owners always give back to the community by donating to fundraisers, community events etc. so we will be patrons for life.

  • Leslie D.

We recently moved to the San Tan area and are so glad there is a Morenos here. We usually go to the one on Gilbert and Germann. I am happy to say that this one is just as good. Fajitas were great as always, and the staff are very nice. So glad we don't have to drive all the way to Chandler for Morenos!

  • Eileen W.

Salsa chips are great, food looks awesome. 12 tables 9 servers 12 tables I think I should get my chips and salsa refilled- huh?

    (2)
  • Lindsay P.

We really like this place. Not everything is a major win but dammit those Pollo Fundido's and Chimichangas are where it's at.

    (4)
  • Jay T.

Their bean dip is really good and I love their sonora hot dog. I also like their menudo, it tastes homemade. The prices aren't to bad and service is good. Very clean environment.

    (4)
  • Rachel C.

I'm sad to say that I don't go here anymore. Prices have gone way up. My favorite dish used to be $6.99 and is now $8.99. I ordered a cup of salsa, which is sooo good. But after finding out that they charge $5 and change for it, I stopped. I'll just buy some at the grocery store. Otherwise to just feed myself a meal and chips/salsa, I was walking out of there paying $18. yikes!

    (3)
  • Tucker B.

We go to this place often it has great food! I love the fact that they offer you the three types of dips with the chips! The Pollo Fundido is my favorite and I get it pretty much every time unless I'm feeling adventurous and I am never led astray. The only reason why this isn't a 5 start review is because when you need extra chips it's .99 but we never get it anyway...cuz they usually load you up pretty good the first time.

In Arizona for a few days & missing Mexican food already. Moreno's is a tasty little Mexican food place with friendly service! We all enjoyed our food...Tried the Southwestern Shrimp Burro - shrimp was plenty & the pineapple gave it a little sweet kick (very different than anything I've ever had). However, the Crab Relleno was AMAZING! It was stuffed with crab & had this delicious jalapeño cream sauce that made the dish perfection! 5 star dish!

  • Clint F.

I have been here numerous times for dinner, and what can I say, I always come back, partly because it's about the only choice real close by and I really can't complain too much about the food. Love the chips, red and green salsa and the bean dip. The servers have always tried their best to make sure we were well taken care of. I typically get the stuffed relleno and it's not the best but satisfying at the same time. My wife will often get the quesadilla and she really likes it (the one with chicken and gauc). Now, the other morning we went here for breakfast and it was pretty good. They have a nice selection of both American breakfasts and Mexican. I would come back for the breakfast for sure.

    (4)
  • Heather V.

I love love love this place! It's a bit small and crowded at times, but is worth it! When the weather is nice, there are a couple tables outside that are perfect for enjoying the fall/winter/spring mornings with a nice cup of coffee. Moreno's has a large breakfast menu that my husband and I take advantage of. They have a variety of Mexican dishes (Huevos Mexicanos or Machaca Plate) and standard American meals (french toast or eggs with hashbrowns and bacon). So no matter what you're feeling like, you'll get what you want! Gerardo, the shift manager and server is very personable and seems to always be there! He always remembers what we like to drink and eat, not to mention the best server we've had in San Tan Valley. I will say we have had bad service on occasion, usually if Gerardo is on vacation, but is wont deter us from getting our morning Machaca Plate.

Menudo taste like it came out of a can not a big fan of it but there other food is okay not as good as the original ones

  • Davina L.

I've asked myself each time I've gone here, why did we come here? The service has always been terrible each time. It probably is the worst service I have ever experienced The food is ok, not the best, but tonight it was really greasy. we had to ask for napkins 3 times and never got any. There are so many servers but none of them will bother looking in your direction. I really don't think we will go back again, and I mean it this time.

  • Elaine N.

One day I wish restaurant owners here in San Tan Valley would really try and step up their game. It should never be about the money and truly be about customer satisfaction. I just spent $25 on two shredded beef tacos, one bean & cheese burrito and two cheese enchiladas. The pictures looked pleasing but every bit of this food was completely unpleasant. The cheese in the enchiladas, what kind is it? It definitely wasn't shredded and the green sauce tasted like it came from a can. It's sad to spend money on food we are not going to eat. Guess I'll keep looking...

  • Will G.

Someone told me this place had good Mexican food so I decided to stop by and order the torta first of all the service was terrible I never did get any napkins or silverware after about 20 minutes my food came out cold and it wasn't that good I love Mexican food and have been to many Mexican restaurants and this by far is the worst I have been to save your money and go to Taco Bell

    (1)
  • Lena V.

Well, this place has had plenty of time to get they're act together. The service is horrible! Food is just ok, which is sad because when they opened they got 4 stars from me. I'm surprised that they're still in business but there isn't a whole lot of options here. The chips n Salsa/Bean Dip is yummy but that's it. Keep searching!

    (2)
  • Michael S.

Full disclosure, I'm a Mexican food Breakfast type guy. I love huevos rancheros, chiliques, and anything else in that pantheon. This is basically the best breakfast spot in Queen Creek as far as I'm concerned. It's not a huge corporate conglomerate chain place either so that's a huge plus. At lunch the Sonoran Dogs are awesome too. Actually everything on the menu really kicks ass. The service is commensurate with how busy it is. It's a small place. The food is great.

    (4)
  • Thea B.

Always good food and service. I had Muedo and taste like mother in laws my sister has Chili Verde a taste wonderful.

    (4)
  • Jill D.

I haven't had a bad meal here yet! Been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've tried several different meals and they were all great! The wait can be a little long, especially for breakfast, but it's worth it

    (5)
  • Johnathan S.

Was not impressed at all with the Red enchiladas. The food was cold, highly upset with this place. Never coming back to this restaurant

    (2)
  • Chloe R.

This place is good for a decently priced meal. Nothing too spectacular but still nice. I personally like the fundido sauce. Just try not to down the chips and salsa in 5 seconds like I do, since you don't get a free refil on them.

    (4)
  • Gabriel R.

I really appreciate the service but when does service become a little annoying? Please don't ask me every two minutes if we are ok especially when we are only eating the free chips. Now to the food which was 20 minutes late, was okay. Very bland and no flavor. The giant "Durango Ranchero Relleno was said to be loaded with shrimp. I found only 4. The ranchero sauce was sweet and made the dish boring . But again we are being asked every 90seconds if we are doing okay...Annoying. The price is ok. I may just try something new next time but eh not too impressed.

    (3)
  • Patti K.

Great service! Had the torta and fried. Loved that they had Pepsi, nothing goes better with Mexican food. The chips are thin how I like them. The salsa could have been spicier but it was good. They also give you a green sauce which is a sweet spice. Will definitely be going again!!

    (4)
  • Raean M.

Had the southwestern shrimp burro and crab relleno. It was very good! Margarita was okay.

    (4)
  • Raymond R.

Amazing food, 1 good server...nobody even noticed we came in and sat down, i had to go up there and ask if we could have a server, but, he was outstanding, work on your service Moreno's, because your food is excellent.

  • Ken P.

I've been going for breakfast, lunch & dinner here for about 2 years on & off & have had nothing but the best experiences with the taste of food & prompt & kindly service from the wait staff. I see some negative responses but their a few & far between. My wife & finicky daughters absolutely love this restaurant. Gerardo is a great waiter too, if ya can, try to seat in his area. Be mindful it is a small restaurant so lines & waiting can be frustrating but if there is lines, they must be doing something right.

    (4)
  • Elaine B.

You wouldn't know by looking at their website that they have a full breakfast menu. With Everything From The all American Country Fried Steak To Mexican Favorites Like chilaquiles And Huevos rancheros The Have It All. Huge portions and great friendly service.

    (4)
  • Bryce W.

i come here often and have yet to be disappointed. The place is always busy, which is a good sign. My favorites are the shrimp mango quesadilla and the crab relleno. They are delicious. The staff is always friendly too. Its the best mexican food for miles around here.

    (5)
  • Chris D.

The service here on 5/25/14 was bad. The guy seemed to only focus on me (another guy) and not my fiance. Instead of asking if we wanted more to drink he'd just come and grab our cups. The chips and salsa, in my opinion, are terrible. The beans are ok. We didn't like the food at all. Will not be coming back.

    (1)
  • Shyla C.

The Green Corn Tamale was the most amazing one I have ever had on the east side. The green salsa was fantastic, as well as the bean dip! The only thing that lacks at all is the environment. It is not dumpy at all just not nice but they definitely have AMAZING food

    (5)
  • Cameron M.

Quite possibly the worst service I've ever experienced. They got my order wrong 3 times and I had to ask constantly for silverware, napkins, and water. Food was really good. Eat at your own risk.

We order take out from here about once a week. The green sauce is excellent and so is the burro grande.

After moving to San Tan Valley, we have been looking for a good Mexican food restaurant. Morenos was the place. It took us a year and a half to try it after reading reviews that it was bland with no flavor before we braved it and tried it anyway. It definitely had flavor even though it wasn't spicy. We aren't huge fans of spicy, but we like it to have flavor, and this did. The salsa with the bean dip was great, and I got the cheese enchilada and taco combo with green sauce. The taco was fresh and crisp, and the enchilada was very full. I wasn't able to finish all of it, and also got a tamale to go. We are thrilled that we finally took the chance and found a new favorite Mexican food place.

Given the lack of dining options in Queen Creek, I had to try this newly opened restaurant. Now I can cross that task off my list. The restaurant is a little small and customers can seat themselves. My friend ordered the #10 combo: a tamale (chicken) and enchilada (cheese). I ordered #2 taco (chicken) and burrito (chicken). One thing to note - the first basket of chips & salsa (and beans) is free, but subsequent baskets are charged. So don't eat up unless you want to pay extra. That wasn't a worry for us because while the salsa wasn't bad, neither of us liked the beans. Kind of a weird flavor. That was repeated when we received our meals, which came with rice and beans. I wasn't a fan of the beans then either. My plate was very good - the street taco was packed. Squeeze a bit of the lime on it and it was very good. The burrito also was packed and although I don't recall spraying it with lime, the chicken had a hint of lime there as well. As Kevin R. pointed out, the rice was excellent. My friend's first comments were that the enchilada was very cheese - which is a good characteristic of a cheese enchilada. That was where the highlight of her plate ended. The tamale? Not so much...in fact it was kind of eeck. We both thought it tasted of freezer burn, either way she ate a total of 1/3 of one of the two that came with the order. The staff was very friendly. One waitress took our drink order, then two others stopped by to see if someone had taken our drink order. I don't know if that speaks of the attentiveness of the staff, or the perceived slowness of our waitress. Later when our server asked if we wanted a refill, one of the other ladies stopped by to ask the same question. If I go back, I would probably just go with an order of the street tacos. Those were excellent and everything else was just sort of okay. Most likely I won't come back, but if I did that's what I'd get.

The food here is amazing. I had an awesome menudo. We had salmon enchiladas and the flan was so homemade. What a great find, reasonable prices, and just good food.

This place is AMAZING. I love mexican food, and I've been to countless places but this place definitely takes the crown. I don't feel all bloated and gross after I eat, The food isn't greasy AT ALL...But it's still delicious. Their churro plate for dessert is mouthwatering. Awesome service along with amazing food. We really enjoy this place. Super thumbs up!

  • Wes L.

Had 2 Sonoran Dogs. Great! Chips salsa and bean dip free was a nice surprise and my wife got the mango salsa chicken tacos which were really good. It would have been a 5* but her chicken could have been more moist.

Nacho supreme, Carne Asada burrito, and fiesta burrito very good as always excellent food as always.

  • Jennifer C.

Best Mexican food in queen creek! The only reason I gave 4 stars was because the service can sometimes slack and they skimp on the chips and salsa. Bean dip is great and mango shrimp quesadilla with jalapeño cream cheese is my fav! Also love the bottle coca cola from Mexico made with real sugar cane.... Simple pleasures!

  • Ashlie H.

I really enjoyed this little Mexican food joint! Even though it is quit small, they are really great at trying to accommodate all of their guest. We were seated right away and were given a very friendly welcome. The chips and salsa are complimentary as soon as you sit down, that alone filled me up for the salsa and cheese dip is amazing! The menu is a decent size, and the portions of food for the price are excellent. My friend and I both enjoyed our meal and had enough to each take home for left over's. I was very impressed by the taste, quality of the restaurant and the friendliness of the staff. I will hopefully make it back out there soon to enjoy another delicious meal. Kudos to the owner for being able to make a little hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant become so popular! Great job Morenos!

    (4)
  • S. E.

This food has no flavor! Salsas were bland, not hot, not spicy. Menudo, bland no flavor, not spicy. I asked for hotter salsa to spice up the machaca and what was "medium hot" didn't have any more heat than the other two salsas that came with the chips. I have never had "Mexican" food so bland, dull and flavorless. And slow service. You really want the food to be better but it's not. Not worth the wait for a table.

    (1)
  • Toby M.

Absolutely the worst Mexican cuisine I've ever tried to consume. If I could get away with taking stars away I would. As everyone here has stated, the place was packed. Very small for the volume of folks trying to get a seat. Which, as you read, I have no idea why. Chips and salsa- the red salsa was really a tomato sauce with a hint of garlic, the side of beans were very bland and the tomatillo salsa was extremely sweet. We asked for something with a bit more kick and the waitress brought out their 'taco salsa'. This was the same salsa with chili powder and crushed red peppers added. I ordered the carne asada- chimichanga- enchilada style with beans. Again the beans were bland, the carne asada was greasy, grizzly and had a funky taste to it. It came with a side of pico de gallo. I don't think I've ever had jalapeno free pico before. The guacamole was nothing more than pureed advacados. The ladies had their meal, chicken fundito. Another hideous, bland plate. While a very generous serving of chicken, there was no seasoning whatsoever. All in all, this place is great for anyone with ulcers, as there is no heat in their cooking at all. Kind of reminds me of New York City's idea of hot. Not a chance in hell that I will ever recommend this place to anyone wanting Mexican food. You're better off going to Taco Bell.

Keep coming back for the shrimp mango quesadilla , the sweet corn tamales and the shrimp tacos. The green sauce for the chips is outstanding, the service is hit and miss, whenever I get Sacia or Genaro, I get great service. I will keep coming back.

Great food and not overly expensive. We tried their enchiladas and they were great. We will be going back to try their breakfast !

I had been here 3 times and each time has went down one star from the 3 I first would have gave it. Lets give some details shall we. Inside: There are about 10 tables I would say and can get packed really fast during dinner so if you are going to go prepare to wait or have another option in mind if you dont feel like waiting. There is one TV on the wall and it usually paying sports (which is a PLUS) Outside: There is usually 2 tables which at this time of the year are the best seats you can get, I love the cool Arizona evenings. Only downfall you may be forgot about when it come to refills. I was outside one time was when they bought my food and that was the last time I saw the waitess till I went back inside to pay..... Service: See above but add the fact that sometimes they have a cute girls working there. Last time I was there and I found a long hair in my food, I have no hair so it was not mine. They offered to replace it (would you like spit in your food) I said no, They didnt offer to take any money off the check which would have made it somewhere better. After my last experience I will not be back. Overall I am going to find another option.

I would not say this is the very best mexican food I have had. I do like it. I really enjoy their fish tacos and the salsa is tasty. My only gripe is they do not refill chips and salsa without a charge. One bowl. That's it.We had 5 people and it was a very small bowl. The problem is this is not the norm. So, it usually sends me to the places I can enjoy refills without an issue.I have had good service here and other days bad.Service is sometimes key. Make people fell welcomed and they come back everytime.

One of the worst restaurants I have ever been in. Used to go there frequently then we noticed a change. Two employees making out in the booth behind us, Next time we are completly ignored , hardly anyone one in the place. We left after 15 minutes without water of chips. Food is tasteless, and it is very dirty in the place. Must of changed mgmt , their are so many nice places to eat in AZ go find one this is not it and they don't care either.

Been here twice. One time a solid 4 stars, and today was 2 ... at best, so I'm gonna average that out to 3. Stay away from the Carne Asada as it was pretty dry & bland. I had the Green chili burrito before & it was great. Rice & Beans are always good. Service is ok. My word of advice is research the reviews and stick with what people here are saying is good .. because it really can be good, but the bad can be oh so bad......

Stopped by to get a burro thinking that it was just another fili's. But I am so glad that I went in there! the food was great and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Have been back 10 times since, even with a screaming baby all they wanted to do was help. Thanks!!!

I have been to this place a few times before and had good experiences. This time, I stopped in because the kiddos were craving chips and salsa. We weren't planning on a full dining experience since I had just left Fry's next door to grab a few staples needed to make dinner. We were seated and got our chips and salsa, which they devoured. The server mentioned to me it was happy hour, so all appetizers were half price. I opted for the nachos supreme with shredded beef, since the kids still wanted more chips (the first basket is free, I was told it would be 1.99 for chips and more bean dip). They came out within about 10 minutes, they had shredded beef, beans, melted shredded cheese and a separate dish held pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. Well all was well, we were munching away...until....I was chewing on something that yeah....did not feel like food lol...I pulled it out of my mouth...at first I thought oh no, a hair!...nope...I glanced at it and couldn't figure out what the hell it was...so I put it on a napkin to get a better look...our server happened to be walking by so I called him over and asked for a manager...She came out and said "Yes, what seems to be the problem?"...I said "uhhh...well....THIS was in my food...I was chewing on it..." She sorta snickered and casually said "Ohhh I know what that is! That's from the scrubber that they clean the grill with." "I will take the nachos supreme off your bill" and walked the hell off....I was still not done talking...lol...She even took the metal tinsel with her....I'm guessing she didn't want anyone to hear the convo considering the lady sitting at the table right next to ours had just placed a catering order totalling over $100....Yeah...it grossed me out too....

I loovvvveee this place. So yeah, I will admit I've tried Cravings and Gecko and I thought this would never compare BUT I gave this place a chance and I will never give it up. There food is great, it has some gecko favorites (like the tomatillo salsa and the shrimp mango quesidilla) in my opinion this makes it better. Their mexico tacos are good and cheap! Perfect for family outings and I love their baja fish tacos, so yummy, Yeah they charge extra for chips buts its only a dollar...not such a big deal. If anything people should complain when a restaurant starts charging 14 dollars a plate. Oops, restaurants already do! People stop being stingy, we are getting out of a recession..Calm down. I love their food and dont think Ill stop going any time soon. Plus they serve mango margaritas!

I actually had lunch here today with my son and I thoroughly enjoyed my veggie burro with beans & rice. My son had the mini (chicken) chimi's and he cleared his plate too. This is my third visit here and I've always enjoyed my food (huge portions) and our bill was only $18.00 including the tip. You can't beat that! It's definitely working it's way up to being one of my favorite Mexican food haunts. Our servers were fast, friendly and so far I've never experienced a problem here. It won't get five stars from me because the restaurant is small and if you don't get there before the rush you may not get a table.

Food was very basic, The spinach sauce should have gone on the burro not in it. My Asada burro had more filler beans than meat (Filibertos has more meat and cheaper too). They wanted to charge for more salsa and chips .99 for a small basket of chips and .99 for 1/4 cup of salsa. I ask the manager to name one place around here in the east valley that charges for extra chips and salsa and she said she couldn't, We told her it was our 3rd time there and was never charged before and that's when she said they fired the people who have done that. They have lost my business for good and manager really don't care and she showed it. One last item, my enchilada style burro flower shell soaked up the sauce on it and had very little around it, they wanted more money to put sauces on our burros.

I was pleased with my visit yesterday evening for dinner. The waitress was very nice. Started with a strawberry margarita which was very delicious. Chips were yummy but could've used hotter salsa and had read we are charged for the 2nd order..could've used more but wasn't gonna pay. Bean dip needed salt. Husband was sold on the street tacos but needed to ask for limes and hot sauce..or should I say sauce as it had no hot to it. I would have been fine with a bottle of store brand hot sauce. I had the chimi which was great..and my daughter had the fried tacos..which looked good, she said they were great. I would love to see a pick my own combination menu but was very happy to see our bill. Very very reasonable for sit down dinner. Fried icecream was small but good.

Nope... Staff was rude, chatting with each other and ignoring the customers. Screwed up our order, once correct food was brought out, it was mediocre at best. Not anything like the one on AZ Ave in Chandler.

The shrimp and mango quesadilla was delicious! Large enough for 2 if you aren't ravenous, especially considering the free chips with salsas and bean dip. The service was fast and friendly and the happy hour drink prices are great!

This place rocks my socks!! I love the shrimp mango quesadilla and the special chimichanga with the cheese sauce!! Staff is friendly, place is clean, always busy but not a long wait. I have brought all my family and friends and everyone loves it! Great food!

I was unsure about this place but decided to give it a try. Price was not bad, service was good, but holy crap were they busy. Took us thirty plus minutes to get seated, the place is tiny. I had the combo fajitas, no complaints. More than enough food, not stingy on the tortillas, and the taste was fantastic. I will give this a few more tries before I make a final review, as the majority of the reviewers have had inconsistent results here.

Hubby gave up on the menudo, but everything else is very good. The wait staff is friendly and service is prompt. The chili relleno is great, and I love the fish tacos. It's a pretty busy place and a couple of times there were no tables available.

We're new to the area...to the state actually...and were looking for a good Mexican restaurant. After looking through the yelp reviews, we tried a few and this was by far the best...so far. The service was great, staff was very attentive. The food was good and the prices were as well. We'll definitely go back.

I've been here twice, the first time I thought the food was bad. Went back a 2nd time because I was out there again and there is really no where else to go. Figured, "food can't be as bad as I remember." It was, maybe worse the 2nd time. Service wasn't good either. I love Mexican food, but his just is not good.

Moreno's wasn't the best, but like one of the other people said, it's nice to have another restaurant out here. I had the Moreno burrito and just like my rating for the place, it was just okay. I'd go back, but I'd just try something different.

  • Laura C.

I went to Moreno's with my family around 3:00, hoping to avoid the busy rush. The food was great. No complaints at all. However, the wait staff were horrible. Some of the staff must have gotten off. The took up two of the four booths to sit and talk. They were distracting the other staff that were working, they were loud, and were playing videos of a screaming infant on their phones that were so loud they were distracting to the customers. Until the end when one of the new in coming staff waited on us, we were pretty much ignored. Then the last waitress was very attentive getting us refills on our drinks before we even requested more and very friendly. If the owners would not allow their staff to hang out in the dining area after the get off, would likely earn them two more stars from this customer and her family.

While I am ecstatic that we have another restaurant out here in the sticks of San Tan Valley, I wasn't wowed with Moreno's first impression. I've heard that the owners of Morenos are somehow related to the owners of Gecko Grill (Mesa & QC), and share each others' menus. This was confirmed on Moreno's menu, listing "cravings" recipes from Gecko. We placed a to-go order and was quoted a 15-20 min wait. I showed up about 30 minutes later, and to their credit, the place was hoppin', even for a Sunday night. I waited almost 20 minutes while the frantic cashier found everyone's orders and rang them up. One girl insisted on folding napkins around silverware right at the front counter, instead of in the back or at a table, and that made everything super crowded. Some of the people in my family loved their food, but mine for one was subpar. I ordered the chicken chimichanga, because I LOVE the spicy cream cheese sauce. The sauce I got was completely contrived, contained no cream cheese, and tasted like waxy sliced pepperjack. Bleck! The tortillas were tough, but the rice was TO DIE FOR (Light, fluffy, perfectly seasoned). When I showed my wife the receipt, she calculated that we were overcharged by about $10, which the manager on duty said would be credited to our next order. While we will definitely go back (due in part to lack of options), it'll be hard to forget the first time...

I really like this place and have been there about 5 times now. I love the fact that you get free chips with 2 salsas & bean dip when you arrive. I typically order vegetarian dishes so I can't comment on the meat dishes. I have thoroughly enjoyed their cheese enchiladas and their rice & beans get 10 stars!

I used to live in queen creek, and loved this place. Now I live in Chandler and drive out about 25 minutes and still think its totally worth the trip. I love their food and everyone is always so polite and nice. They have a ton of parking (unlike the smaller location in Chandler who's food is equally delicious.

BE CAREFUL!!! I am on the verge of saying this place has employee integrity issues. I say that as I have been to Moreno's three times since they opened and all three times I was overcharged...Most recently, today, when I got the $5.99 lunch special that I was subsequently charged $6.99 for. At first, the cashier seemed "surprised" that their computer overcharged me and assured me it this was a "rare" occurrence. When I pressed the issue, she showed me a long, handwritten list with dollar amounts of refunds of people who complained about being overcharged. She went on to say there have been "glitches" with the computers since they opened a few months ago and she "might not use the computers for the rest of the day." I thought, OK, that is an odd statement...just for today? After letting the cashier talk, I think she realized she caught herself in a lie when she said what she said and showed me the list...Then she played stupid and said she "didn't know." I hate leaving Yelps like this and I would have gladly given Moreno's 3-stars had this not been a recurring issue or having been lied to.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
